BAMS stands for bachelor of ayurvedic Medicine and surgery.
It is a 5.5 Years course Including 1 year internship 1st 4.5 years of theoretical and practical study of both ayurvedic and allopathic medicine. 1st years include subjects of basic principles like Padarth vigyanam, Physiology(sharir kriya), Anatomy( Rachna Sharir), Asthang Hridyam and sanskritam.
Yes you read it right 1st year syllabus also includes sanskritam sanskrit, It is important to read the original ayurvedic text written by acharys in ancient times, Many ayurvedic treatment procedures and also modern day surgeries including many ayurvedic medicines.
2nd year of BAMS Includes subjects like Dravyaguna, Ras shastra and bhaishajya kalpana, Rog nidan and Charak samhita purvardha.
3rd year of BAMS Includes Subjects like Swasthvritta, Stri roga evim Prasuti Tantra, Agad Tantra, Kaumarbhritya, Charak Samhita Uttarardha.
4th years of BAMS Includes Subjects like Kaaychikitsa, Panchkarma, Shalya Tantra, Shalakya Tantra and Research and Medical Statistics.
The 1st year subjects are basics of ayurved whereas the 2nd year focuses on entry to clinical and 3rd year focus on building relation with some practical knowledge along with a lenghty theoretical syllabus.
The college life include 3 Practical Visits and 6 months of hospital postings during 4th year and after that 6 months of Ayurvedic internship training and 6 months of allopathic training in any civil hospital.
